Skaņu mežs opens it’s venue!

On April 2 Skaņu mežs is opening it’s own venue on the new alternative culture  “highway” of the capital – Miera street in downtown Riga. This unique venue will combine a cafe with a small concert space, an exquisite record store and will also serve as a small exhibition hall for sound art and space for lectures. Interior there is as nowhere else – it is based on designs of the prominent Latvian sound-artist Evelina Deicmane and one of the prime Latvian interior designers Liene Drazniece.

Records sold in the shop will be coming from the best alternative labels in the world like Touch Music, Editions Mego, Staubgold, Warp Records, Not Not Fun, Domino Records, Southern Lord, etc.

Opening event will reveal the breadth of programming one will encounter at “Skanu mezs” venue. It will host DJ’ing by the amazing Dunian whose music has been played by Mary Ann Hobbs on BBC 1, compositions by the brightest young Latvian contemporary composers Santa Ratniece and Eriks Esenvalds, performance by Arturs Punte from the famous Latvian-Russian Orbita poetry group and a concert by perhaps the amazing Latvian digital music producer Martins Rokis.

No visit to Riga for music lovers from now on will be accomplished without visiting “Skanu mezs”!
